My visit to Sarawak was actually to collect research data from two secondary schools in Kuching. [My heartfelt thanks to Dr Salmah, a friend of mine who is currently working in UNIMAS for helping me out with the overall process. Without her, it will be almost impossible for me to get an access to the schools. It was a great opportunity since the two schools that we visited gave a full cooperation to make my intention fulfilled].
I also took this opportunity to share my little knowledge on systematic data analysis in Case Study through which the emphasise was given on meta-matrix and causal network. I thank all the attendees for coming to the sharing session! We were having a good time together .. and the questions asked were challenging too! I am grateful when I looked at their enthusiasm. Faces with a full concentration and eagerness to listen to every sentence I uttered.
Wishing you all the best in your research journey!
InshaAllah sekali lagi saya akan berkongsi maklumat berkaitan kajian kes bersama para pelajar siswazah. Jemput datang bagi yang berkeperluan dan berkelapangan :)

Publication Made Easy for Postgraduate Students - a session that was designed to help postgraduate students in producing a 'publishable' work. Alhamdulillah the session went smoothly well. I tried as much as I could to convince the audience that if there is a will there is a way! That is my clear message to all. The most popular publication is empirical article but if you haven't collected your data, you can always write a conceptual paper. That is for sure!
Although having your article written and published is no an easy process, it is not impossible to achieve.
I wish everybody a happy writing and all the best in your learning endeavour!
Setinggi-tinggi syukur jua dirafa'kan kepada Ilahi kerana setelah sekian lama baharulah sempat perjumpaan berkumpulan antara pelajar-pelajar di bawah seliaan saya berjaya dilakukan. Sesungguhnya masa sering mengheret banyak perkara sehingga tertangguh-tangguh.
It's been a while since our last meeting was held. Time flies soo fast that I couldn't get hold to many things. InshaAllah the next progress meeting will be held as follows:
I will also be sharing some tips on publications. See you there guys!
Self-branding is one of important aspects that needs to be considered by all academics or researchers. Who are you? What you do? What do you want people to know what you do? How do you give evidences to all things that you do/want others to know about it?
Those are among questions that will help us define ourselves particularly online. Try to Google your own name and see what you get. Is it your Facebook account? Try to look for image. What kind of photos appear that relate to your name?
It is undeniable that the use of social media sometimes can shape our identities - whether you realize it or not; whether you plan it or not. Apart from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest of Instagram - many academics also have a tendency to shape their online identities via platforms like Google Scholar, LinkedIn, ResearchGates, Academia or even Mendeley. These platforms give you space to share your work and showcase your expertise. I have lots of students who like to surf through Academia to get full text of journal articles. Some of them use Google Scholar alerts. They also use Mendeley to archive all the articles they read and even share their libraries with others.
So many ways to get connected, so many means to share things!
I would like to thank everybody who attended today's session on online visibility. Hope that my little sharing benefits everyone! ^____^
Mac sudah tiba ke penghujung. Cuti semester pula mengambil alih.
InshaAllah we will follow the routine .. another progress meeting with all my postgraduate students will be held on 28th December 2016. Three of my students - Ila, Syaida and Lee will be presenting their Porject Paper 2, while Shah will be sharing his overall research findings as his mock viva.
I am looking forward to seeing everybody in this meeting. InshaAllah I will also be talking on tips to write a problem statement and how to do a comprehensive LR.
For a postgraduate students, writing a proposal might be the first task they need to produce prior to conducting their research. How do you know that your proposal is good enough to be approved by your supervisor, or the committee members? How do find a title for your proposal? What makes your proposal complies to a PhD level? How depth and breath should your LR be? Is it important to claim your epistimological considerations? What kind of instrument should you use for collecting your data? Is there any basis for that?
Those are among critical questions that need to be considered when you are writing a researh proposal. Alhamdulillah, I had a chance to conduct a sharing session with some of the IIUM postgraduate students few days ago. Thanks to my fellow friend - Dr Faizah from The Kuliyyah of Educatoin - who invited me to see her supervisees. It was a fruitful session I must say, that everybody was taking part in the conversation. Thanks to all of you and I wish everybody the best of luck in your research journey.
Remember, PhD is not about a competition wiith others, but it is a competition with YOURSELF!
