Sebenarnya perancangan untuk bengkel ini sudah agak lama dibincangkan namun kerana kekangan masa seta komitmen yang lain, agenda ini terpaksa dibawa ke hari ini. Thanks Dr Azrina, from the Faculty of Economics and Management, for this invitation :)
They are team members of a research funded by the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development who conducted a research on women workers' involvement in STEM projects. My role today was to help out with the analysis of their qualitative data (mainly interviews), and to do this, we used NVivo. I carefully designed the workshop not to be too lengthy but instead I focused more on what should be done to analyze their current data. We had an in-depth discussion on the coding and the considerations in selecting the codes/keywords. I also shared they ways to present the data analysis including meta matrices and causal network. Together with the research group members who joined the workshop were FEP's students. I admired their persistence and commitment to learn a different perspective of looking at things and how to make it meaningful - away from numbers! I do hope that todays sharing session will be fruitful to all of you and I truly wish you the best in your research undertaking! xoxo Dr. F

My visit to Sarawak was actually to collect research data from two secondary schools in Kuching. [My heartfelt thanks to Dr Salmah, a friend of mine who is currently working in UNIMAS for helping me out with the overall process. Without her, it will be almost impossible for me to get an access to the schools. It was a great opportunity since the two schools that we visited gave a full cooperation to make my intention fulfilled]. I also took this opportunity to share my little knowledge on systematic data analysis in Case Study through which the emphasise was given on meta-matrix and causal network. I thank all the attendees for coming to the sharing session! We were having a good time together .. and the questions asked were challenging too! I am grateful when I looked at their enthusiasm. Faces with a full concentration and eagerness to listen to every sentence I uttered. Wishing you all the best in your research journey!
Assalamualaikum,
It's been a pleasant time this morning for me to be able to share little knowledge on analyzing qualitative data and tips to develop tree nodes and free nodes with my fellow students. Working in a small group actually created more room for interaction and I do hope that everybody enjoyed the hands-on session. All the best in your learning endeavor :) Here is the slides that I used during the introduction session: I have few students who are now struggling with their massive qualitative data. Teaching them one-to-one will consume a lot of time. For that reason, I will be conducting a workshop on Nvivo. Seats are limited. If your are interested to join, here are the details: |
