What a coincidence! Hehehe
Semoga Allah membalas budi baik kalian semua atas kenangan indah ini ^___^

Much has been discussed on how Augmented Reality (AR) can help motivate students and help them to gain more meaningful learning. AR is also listed in the trends in e-learning for year 2018, which indicates the relevance and significance of studies on AR. Currently I have 4 students (two master and two undergraduate) who are in the midst of doing a research on AR. Congrats on your presentations - Farhaha, Nadhira, Hazeem and Izyan! Looking forward to hearing a good result from the AR stuff your are developing! Lagi siaran tertunda.
Jom perangi PROCRASTINATION!! :) Alhamdulillah it always feel good to see how well your student had shown their progress. To me, the most satisfying moment is to witness my students' ability to talk about their research confidently and convinced others of the desisions made. Congratulation Ila and Syaida who had successfully presened their Project 2 findings. I do hope that this sharing session will benefit others too. Keep up everyone! Your destination is just a few step ahead! InshaAllah we will follow the routine .. another progress meeting with all my postgraduate students will be held on 28th December 2016. Three of my students - Ila, Syaida and Lee will be presenting their Porject Paper 2, while Shah will be sharing his overall research findings as his mock viva. I am looking forward to seeing everybody in this meeting. InshaAllah I will also be talking on tips to write a problem statement and how to do a comprehensive LR. Alhamdulillah all praise to Allah The Almighty! And congratulations .. specifically to Nadirah and Afiqah - my two master students on your graduation day. Indeed, the research journey is not something that everybody would cherish but believe me, if you do it with passion and sincerity, soon as it finishes .. all the hurdles will one day become something that you will value and treasure! Both Nadirah and Afiqah had successfully published an article in indexed journals and completed a chapter of a book. They had recently presented their research findings at the international conference as well. Obviously what they produced is beyond the requirement set by our faculty, i.e., each student should at least present their work at any conference as a prerequisite/condition for graduation.
My other students had also published chapters in book and are currently working on their journal articles. As to spur the momentum, a writing workshop will be held in the near future. In this case, a supervisor plays an important role - not only to make sure that they (students) will write, but more than that, a supervisor should spend his/her precious time to read and rewrite students' work. It is of importance that the writing and review process is done by both parties (student and supervisor). This effort will not only increase the quality of the article but also inculcate a sense of belonging to the writing process. Once again - congrats Nad and Fiqah! To my other beloved students - take this as a spirit to gear up! Cheers! "Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it" - Greg Anderson "It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end" - Ursula K. Le Guin "Friends are as companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life" - Pythagoras "Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination" - Drake "Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step" - Lao Tzu If you appreciate your journey as a postgraduate student, you will definitely agree that the above quotes are indeed meaningful, as the journey along the path is not always easy as it may look or expected. All the difficulties, hiccups and hurdles are the best 'guru' that mould you to be the way you are today. It has never been straight forward process when you talk about writing up your research. Most of the time I found that students tend to overlook the importance of being 'transparent' about their research and as a consequence, many things were not clearly mentioned to the reader/audience. Well, expertise comes with practice so please do not feel bad or unmotivated when you get comments from your SV :) it is part of the process and believe me that everybody has gone the same process as well! It is also vital to have a framework of the structure of your chapters. One of the best ways to ensure that you write what has to be written in your chapters respectively, is to jot down the keywords/headings first. You may then add in some main points underneath each heading and from there you start writing. Do not correct your grammar while writing - let it flow easily because it is hard to retrieve the ideas back once you stop! After pouring up your ideas, then only you revisit the sentence and check the spelling, or the structure of the sentence. It is also good to step back and put yourself in reader's shoes. Look at the coherence of your ideas, the flow and the most importantly the clarity of your intended explanation. The process may took a while, but once you get the rhythm, you will enjoy it. Remember that Rome wasn't built in a day. So does your skills in academic writing. So do not give up, cherish the journey instead! Anyway, congratulations everybody who had presented their research progress this afternoon. I will be sharing the videos of your presentation via Trello, so please check it up. Have a nice holiday and I'wll see you after Eid! xoxo Ramadhan Kareem.
With this holy month's blessings, I hope everybody is developing their strengths and spirit to speed up their research progress and be more proactive! Insha-Allah I will be conducting another progress meeting on 21st June 2016. There will be presentations from all my master students who are taking Project Paper 1 and 2. See you there! I do not mean to be pushy! This meeting is a necessary mean to spur the research progression, at least that's how I see it! Let's meet up everybody and share your research progress. There will be question & answer session at the end of presentation. Hope to get fruitful feedback then insha-Allah! :)
