International  University  Carnival  on  E-Learning  2018

IUCEL is an international university carnival on e-learning, organised by the Malaysian e-Learning Council for Public Universities (MEIPTA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education. In line with the role of IUCEL that is to promote best practices in e-Learning, this annual event provides a platform for researchers and practitioners from all over the country or even abroad to share their innovations and best practices. 

Even though I didn't take part in the IIDEL competition unlike in previous years, I still attended this year's event which took place in IIUM as a jury as well as a featured speaker. 

It has always been 
a great experience to see what other researchers had done in their field of areas. AR is still significant I would say, as there were many contestants presented their AR-based materials during the judging session. Apart from that, VR can also be seen in some booths. However, MOOCs still dominated the overall participation - from my quick glance at least. 

Fostering Students' Meaningful Learning through A Community of Practice Approach: Make USE of MOOCs - that was the title of my presentation. I wanted it to be a light and easy sharing session. No statistics, no bullets in the slides. Just few stories and examples that are closely related to our daily experiences dealing with members in online communities - be it in MOOCs, or WhatsApp or Telegram. 

I also touched a bit on the dimensions of CoP - mutual engagement, joint enterprise and shared repertoire. It wasn't just an 'accessory' to lengthen the presentation but in fact, I considered it as the core segment. Without understanding these dimensions, one can remain as a common, superficial online community.  

It was a very short presentation, but I do hope that it may give an impact on the way others see how learning should take place in MOOCs. It shouldn't be in in the form of  isolated learning - a student sits individually in front of the computer and go through the modules one by one, take all the quizzes and done. Rather, it should be in a collective form of learning - students should be able to interact with each other, share what they did and seek for help and at the same time help out those in need. Learning should take place in a community-based environment. 

The 2 day event was fruitful. 
I listened to most of the talk sessions - presented by other experts in the field. It was informative, and made me reflected on my own practice in teaching as well. Well done everybody! I learned a lot from all of you!

Today is full of sweet memories. Despite of having to prepare lots of things prior to this occasion I am so blissful to see that everybody was having a good time and enjoyed today's event. The event is aimed to show the faculty's appreciation to all MOOC developers, i.e., lecturers from our faculty, our students for assissting 

What is so special about our faculty's MOOCs? To date, Faculty of Education UKM had launched 15 MOOCs which are available online. The link to Malaysia MOOCs can be accessed HERE 

InshaAllah there will be more MOOCs coming from our faculty.

Langkah terakhir : Mooc

Tarikh keramat.
30 Ogos merupakan hari terakhir untuk para pembangun MOOC melangsaikan segala modul serta bahan dan aktiviti berkaitan sebagai persiapan terkahir sebelum melayakkan diri ke pertandingan MOOC peringkat universiti. 

Sebagai panduan, beberapa kriteria utama yang perlu dilengkapkan adalah jumlah modul yang tidak kurang daripada lapan (8). Setiap modul mengandungi bahan-bahan berkaitan samada video/teks/pdf dan lain-lain serta disusuli dengan aktiviti pengayaan/perbincangan atau tugasan. 

Selamat meneruskan usaha .. pantang beralah sebelum waktunya! :)

Sekitar Bengkel Open Learning & Camtasia

Alhamdulillah, perancangan untuk mengadakan bengkel MOOC kali ke 6 yang melibatkan dua aplikasi (Open Learning & Camtasia) mendapat sambutan menggalakkan - kerusi di makmal hampir penuh walaupun menjelang petang, kehadiran agak susut kerana pada tarikh yang sama, ada 2 lagi agenda yang berlangsung serentak di FPend. Terima kasih sayau capkan kepada semua yang hadir, khususnya buat Prof. Dr Supyan Husin serta En Hashim Muda dari PPTP UKM serta fasilitator Puan Liza dan Atikah. 

Doa saya agar usaha menyiapkan kursus MOOC akan dapat diteruskan oleh semua pensyarah terbabit. Barangkali dengan bertambahnya kemahiran untuk menggunakan Camtasia sebagai perisian untuk mengedit video serta screencasting, maka semakin bervariasilah bahan-bahan dalam kursus MOOC nanti! 

Sedikit peringatan tentang perjumpaan pada 15 Ogos 2015 ini. Ramai-ramai kita datang untuk mencari semangat meenruskan perjuangan MOOC!

Bengkel MOOC (Siri 6)

Alhamdulillah diam tak diam Bengkel Pembangunan MOOC Fakulti telah memasuki Siri ke-6. Syabas dan tahniah buat semua yang hadir dan menunjukkan komitmen yang tidak berbelah bahagi dalam menjayakan projek ini. InsyaAllah, sasaran UKM agar setiap fakulti menghasilkan sekurang-kurangnya 15 kursus Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) akan menjadi realiti kerana sehingga hari semalam, sebanyak 24 kursus didaftarkan dalam projek ini. Kita mengharapkan agar kesemuanya mampu disempurnakan menjelang majlis pelancaran MOOC pada bulan September 2016 kelak! 

Saya sendiri belum sempat menghasilkan apa-apa bahan untuk kesepuluh modul yang dirancang! My personal, special thanks to my three assistances yang hadir untuk sama-sama membincangkan konsep video promosi kursus Inovasi dan Teknologi dalam P&P (ITD2P). 

Mudah-mudahan berkat bulan yang mulia ini, semua usaha diganjari pahala dan menjadi satu jihad ilmu untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan ... amin

Lagi Bengkel MooC

Bengkel pada 25 Mei 2016 ini bagi saya merupakan pengkel terpenting bagi para pensyarah pembangun MOOC (SME) kerana pada hari ini mereka dipertemukan dengan para pelajar pembantu teknikal masing-masing. Agenda pada bengkel ini termasuklah perancangan dan pembahagian modul serta pembinaan papan cerita untuk penghasilan bahan multimedia. 

Saya mengucapkan berbanyak terima kasih kepada semua yang hadir dan memberi komitmen tidak berbelah bahagi terhadap usaha pembangunan MOOC ini, sehingga makmal melimpah! Syabas! 

Kredit juga untuk penyelaras MOOC iaitu Dr. Helmi serta Dr. Zamri yang benyak membantu melicinkan proses ini. Semoga kolaborasi ini diberkati Allah dan segala usaha dan impian akan dapat dikabulkan pada masa yang dirancang, amin ya rab!

Alhamdulillah .. Bengkel MOOC Siri 4 telah dijalankan mengikut jadual. Meskipun ramai pensyarah tidak dapat hadir kerana komitmen lain, secara umum objektif bengkel telah tercapai di mana peserta didedahkan dengan penggunaan Open Learning versi 2.0.
