Bengkel Internet of Things

Fuh fuh .. banyaknya sawang di blog ini! Harap semuanya boleh faham dengan ujian wabak Covid 19 yang melanda, semua kelas ditukar ke mod dalam talian dan bermakna beberapa persediaan perlu dilakukan. Saya malah, meluangkan masa di rumah untuk membangunkan beberapa video tutorial ringkas untuk rujukan rakan-rakan pensyarah lain sebagai bantuan segera yang diperlukan. Beberapa draf artikel yang tergendala juga turut dicanai semula. 

Meskipun berada di rumah bermakna kita telah menjimatkan banyak masa untuk memandu ke tempat kerja namun tempo kerja dan mood ternyata agak menyimpang :(  Justeru, penulisan catatan bengkel ini seringkali tertunda-tunda meskipun hati terasa excited sungguh untuk menulis tentang aktiviti ini! 

Alhamdulillah, perancangan untuk berkolaborasi dengan Asia Pacific University (APU) untuk menjalankan bengkel berkaitan Internet of Things akhirnya menjadi kenyataan pada tanggal 12 Mac 2020. Terima kasih semua pelajar kursus GE6543 Sem ini yang memberikan kerjasama yang tip top untuk sama-sama menjayakan acara ini. 

Bermula dengan perbincangan tentang konsep 4th Industrial Revolution dan letak duduk Internet of Things dalam gelombang 4IR ini, saya kira semua yang hadir jelas tentang peri pentingnya IoT sebagai tulang belakang kepada 4IR. 

Memandangkan kebanyakan yang hadir tidak mempunyai latar belakang tentang IoT secara spesifik, lalu bengkel ini direka bentuk dengan memasukkan sedikit elemen coding menggunakan Arduino agar para peserta dapat merasai sendiri pengalaman penginterasian IoT dan bagaimana aspek koding misalnya terhadap sesuatu device yang hendak digunapakai.

Semuanya excited dan tidak ada yang berganjak dari tempat duduk di sepanjang tempoh bengkel! Syabas semua! Rasanya ini antara kenangan manis kita untuk semester ini bukan? 

Seusai bengkel, pihak APU membawa kami untuk meninjau sekitar kampus. Meskipun ini bukan kali pertama saya diundang ke APU, namun lawatan kali ini memberi lebih gambaran tentang prasarana yang saya kira amat kondusif untuk para pelajar, sejajar dengan tuntutan 4IR serta keperluan pelajar masa kini. Syabas buat pengurusan APU! 

Ramai juga yang saya kira teruja dengan bilik pintar (smart room) kan? Sampaikan ada yang tak berhenti mengambil gambar sana sini .. riuh rendah uols! :P 


So, saya harap acara ini menjadi pengalaman bermakna buat semua ye! Saya merakamkan jutaan terima kasih kepada pihak APU (khususnya En Kamalanathan Shanmugam dan Cik Intan Farahana) di atas kesudian untuk menerima pelajar-pelajar saya ke kampus APU dan sekaligus berkongsi kepakaran tentang IoT dan menjadi maklumat berguna buat semua :)

Alhamdulillah. Thumma alhamdulillah. What else should we say? Yeay .. today the Web 2.0 (Screen-cast-o-matic) has been successfully conducted. Everybody was doing their job very well. No matter what role you play - it matters a lot, and you owe my highest appreciation. Jom KFC class! ahahaha!  

Today's event was a success. It was! So .. Congratulation to everyone - your cooperation is very much appreciated! I am soooo proud of you .. !! 

I really hope that our participants were happy and contented too. 
And .. how do you feel? What kind of reflections can you make after this event? 
Being a facilitator is not simply demonstrating what steps should be taken .. but it involves more than that. I believe that you notice how different the participants were in terms of their learning pace .. right? The diversity can be a challenge too. Same goes with the timing as well as the condition where the training takes place. 

Now, from your overall observation - what are the things that need to be improved? Care to share your thought?

The integration of ICT and pedagogy in teaching using Web 2.0

Teaching with Web 2.0 gives us more opportunities to become creative. Not only that, it also allows you to work collaboratively with peers. In a virtual world, using Web 2.0 learning materials to enhance or facilitate learning can be the best way for educators as it is not only save the time, but it enables the sharing to reach more people in the whole world.

Preparing Web 2.0 learning material can be easy.  You will just need to sit down and give it a try, or follow the YouTube tutorial available nowadays. But the tricky part is that, you also need to think about the pedagogical aspects as well. To what extent does your learning materials suit the needs and  learning styles of your students? What about their age? What about their cultural stances? In designing materials - you need to be careful of these aspects. 

In today's session we will discuss on the aspect of the integration of technology and ICT.
